Who owns the content

You own the copy, design and images once the order is paid. How that works for each publishing destination.

Once an order is paid for, the copy, designs and images we produce for you are yours. This article sets out what that means in practice for each publishing destination.

What you own

You own the work outright. You may use it, edit it, adapt it, move it or republish it, without limit and without paying us anything further. There is no time limit and no licence fee.

In practice you could take the text of a Growth Page into a printed brochure, reuse an article in a newsletter, or have your own developer rebuild the page on your main website.

What we keep

  • Our tools, templates and systems. The production systems behind the work are not part of what you buy.
  • The right to keep hosting network copies. Where content is published on our blog network, we keep the right to go on hosting that published copy, so the links you were given continue to work.

How it works for each destination

Destination Where the work sits What that means
Your own domain On your address The page or blog stays on an address that belongs to you. We host and maintain it.
A subdomain we provide On our infrastructure You own the content. The address is ours and stays under our operational control. You can move to your own domain later, with redirects.
Our blog network On a blog we run You own the writing and can ask for a copy at any time. The published article stays on our blog and keeps linking to you.

Dedicated blogs

A dedicated blog is your asset. If you decide not to renew after twelve months, we contact you before anything changes, and on request we provide an export of your published content so that you can take it elsewhere. See Dedicated blog renewal, and what happens if you stop.

Free start pieces

Both free pieces stay live and their links do not expire. The page sits on an address that we set up and host. The article stays on the network blog where it was published. The delivery report is yours to keep and share.

Material you give us

You are responsible for everything you supply, such as logos, photographs, text and claims, and you confirm that you have the right to use it. If a franchise owner, a developer or a parent company controls your brand assets, check with them before sending.

Work ordered for a client

Agencies can order under a client's brand. The white-label report on the Complete level carries your logo and sign-off and does not mention us. See Reading your delivery report. What you agree with your own client about ownership is a matter between the two of you.
