We write for a wide range of legitimate businesses, but some subjects are refused whoever is asking and whatever they offer to pay. The list comes from the acceptable use section of our terms of service.
Subjects we do not produce or publish
- Adult or sexual services
- Gambling or betting of any kind
- Counterfeit or replica goods
- Hacked or pirated material
- Illegal drugs or weapons
- Malware and phishing
- Financial scams
- Deceptive health claims
- Deceptive income claims
- Anything unlawful, or anything aimed at deceiving people
We also decline hate speech, harassment and content that targets private individuals.
What this means for ordinary businesses
Most orders are nowhere near this list. A few common Gulf industries do sit close to two of the categories, so it helps to be clear.
- Clinics, aesthetic centres, pharmacies and wellness brands. We write about your services, your practitioners, your prices and what a patient can expect. We do not write deceptive health claims, such as promised cures or guaranteed results, or statements that cannot be sourced. The quality checks require every factual claim to trace back to a source. See Quality checks before anything is published.
- Investment, trading, property and business opportunity offers. We describe what you sell and how it works. We do not promise returns or income that nobody can guarantee.
- Retail and e-commerce. We write about genuine products. Replica or counterfeit goods are declined.
If your sector is regulated, you remain responsible for making sure that the facts and claims you give us are accurate and that you are allowed to publish them. We are a content service, not a legal, financial or medical adviser.
What happens if an order falls into a refused category
- Before production. If we cannot take an order on, we tell you and refund anything you have already paid.
- After production has started. We may refuse or stop an order at any point, including part-way through. If we stop for this reason, we refund anything paid for work not yet delivered, and we tell you why.
Not sure whether your business qualifies?
Ask before you order. Send support a short description of what you sell and the claims you would want on the page. A person will tell you honestly whether we can take it. Payment only happens after you have seen your total, so you can ask first at no cost. See Paying for your order.
The free start follows the same rules
The free page and article pass through the same process as paid work, and the same subjects are refused.
Material you supply
You are responsible for anything you send us, including logos, images, text and claims, and you confirm that you have the right to use it. Do not send material copied from a competitor or from a source that you are not permitted to reuse.
