Using your own domain or subdomain

One CNAME record connects an address such as blog.yourbrand.com. Your website and email are not touched.

Growth Pages and dedicated blogs can live on an address that belongs to you, such as offers.yourbrand.com or blog.yourbrand.com. Connecting it means adding one record to your domain settings. Your website and your email are not affected.

What you need

A domain you already own, and access to its DNS settings. These are usually found in the control panel of the company where you registered the domain. If an IT supplier or web agency manages your domain, they can add the record for you.

The three steps

  1. Tell us the address. Choose any subdomain of your domain and put it in your brief.
  2. Add one CNAME record. We send you the exact line: a CNAME record that points your chosen subdomain to an address we give you. Copy it in and save.
  3. We do the rest. Our system watches for the record, confirms the routing on its own and sets up HTTPS on the new address. You do not need to tell us when you are done.

The whole edit is a single row:

Type Host Points to
CNAME blog the address we send you

Common questions

Why a subdomain and not yourbrand.com itself? A bare domain cannot take this kind of record. That is a rule of DNS, not a rule of ours.

Will it affect my website or my email? No. The page or blog is hosted by us, completely separate from your site. You add one record for a new subdomain and nothing else in your DNS changes.

My domain is behind a proxy or CDN. Does that matter? No. We verify the routing either way.

I am not comfortable with DNS. We can walk you through it or add the record together with you on a call. Ask support to arrange it.

Do I pay for the certificate or for hosting? No. Hosting and the HTTPS padlock are handled by us. For a dedicated blog they are inside the yearly price.

Starting on our subdomain and moving later

You do not have to decide at the start. Launch on a subdomain that we provide, and move to your own address whenever you are ready. We move the work with proper redirects, so links you have already shared keep working and search engines follow along.

This is handy if your domain is still being registered or transferred. You can go live now and switch later.
